My first Fieldwork: Alagna Valsesia-Passo dei Salati

Embarking on my first field expedition was an exhilarating and transformative experience that set the course for my deepening understanding of the environmental context. Our journey took us to the captivating Passo dei Salati, an area of immense geological significance. Here, I was able to lay the foundation for my research and connect with the natural world in a profound way.

Exploring Passo dei Salati:

Passo dei Salati welcomed us with its breathtaking vistas and an abundance of geological treasures waiting to be discovered. Through strenuous yet invigorating trekking, we made our way through this remarkable landscape.

Geosites Unveiled:

During our fieldwork, we identified several geosites that left an indelible mark on my understanding of the Earth's history. One of the standout discoveries was the Stollemberg, a prime example of geological contact. Here, I witnessed the tangible evidence of the Earth's complex geological past, where different rock layers came together to tell a story that stretched back millennia.

Another gem was the Cimalegna Plateau, a testament to the forces of glacial shaping. This plateau bore the imprints of glaciers that had sculpted the land, leaving behind a magnificent tableau of nature's artistry. It was a reminder of the ever-evolving Earth and the profound impact of glacial processes.

Mapping and Assessment:

My time at Passo dei Salati wasn't just about exploration; it was about research and data collection. Armed with GPS technology, I meticulously documented the geosites we encountered. This data was the key to mapping these geological wonders and assessing their significance.
